RECENTLY AT OASIS
Oasis Youth Centre ...
'A Museum of Memories'

CELEBRATION NIGHT
February 2023
We had an incredible night at our annual celebration event! We heard from all these projects:
- Activ8: a partnership programme between Oasis and Scotch Street Youth & Community Centre focusing on health & wellbeing and featuring some amazing peer mentors!
- OasisPod: they officially launched the Oasis podcast last night - OasisTalks! (you can find it here: https://oasistalks.buzzsprout.com)
- Common Good: a project delivered by our friends from Youth Link NI on Wednesday evenings
- BUD Steering Group: another partnership programme between Oasis and SSYCC featuring young people who are planning a year long project for their peers and getting to grips with the logistics involved in programme planning!
We also celebrated our volunteers from 2022 - without our volunteers, Oasis simply wouldn't be able to provide the standard of programmes we currently deliver! They are absolutely essential to us and we're so proud of how much our volunteers have developed over 2022 - we're buzzing to see what 2023 holds for them!
Something else really exciting was also launched last night - our BRAND NEW WEBSITE! A group of young people have worked tirelessly on creating the website from scratch - something that none of us Oasis staff would have a clue how to do! Khagaraja, Adam, Sean & Sam spent well over 30 hours EACH creating our website and we are so thrilled with it and incredibly proud of them!
If you would like to get involved in Oasis, please just let us know! Too much fun to miss!

OASIS CHRISTMAS VILLAGE
December 2022
Gets Active Christmas event 'Oasis Christmas Village'.
over the last 6 weeks young people have volunteered twice weekly to create all the art work and prepare the activities for the evening. The event seen 60 families join us for a relaxed Christmas experience and time with family to go through the activities and see the main man Santa too!
Our after school club kids sang a wonderful song as a surprise for parents and guardians. Something they have been working on over the last few weeks in preparation for Monday.
The event would not have been posible without an incredible team of volunteers who we are truly blessed to have involved in Oasis. We also cannot forget to mention our Primary funder ALMAC. Special thanks to Portadown Cares for providing some treats for children and lending us some Christmas decorations
We have had great support from many over the year to make this programme a success but a special mention to our Staff team at CIP/OASIS who work tirelessly to not only support the young people to lead but also to support their ideas to become a reality and their passion for youth work and supporting families is endless!
From the team at Oasis We wish all our Gets Active Families a Happy Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all in 2023!

EASTER GETS ACTIVE
April 2022
|| "Under The Sea" ||
Easter Gets Active was a blast! We where incredibly blessed with great weather which allowed us to get out and get some fresh air!
Day 1: After breakfast we had a walk to Portadown People's Park for some sports with Coach Dylan, Conan and Conor! A great variety of fun and engaging sports to start off our 3 day programme. Massive shout out to Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council Sports Development for providing the sports! After our walk back to Community Intercultural Programme we had a yummy lunch by Flat Dog's!
Day 2: Trip Day to Exploris Aquarium because how could we do an "Under The Sea" theme and not go see all the sea creatures! This was a first for majority of the kids and the young people but I am sure it won't be the last! We had a BLAST!! Did I mention the weather was CLASS!!
Day 3: Our Family Day - we always like to complete PGA with a family event, a great way for parents to meet the team of young volunteers and chat with partners and staff. We had yummy brunch made by Flat Dog's, rolled ice cream by Castle Kings Bouncy Castle Hire (Grind & Roll) visit from Parentline NI, CYPSP, NIACRO - Family Support Hub and Children in Northern Ireland (CiNI) and we had a number of games, challenges, captain Steves riddles and lots of treats provided by our amazing Aspire Leaders!
This finale day is one of the highlights because it is organised by our Aspire leaders and all the games and activities are created and delivered by them. Blessed with incredible young people who have worked really hard to not only support this 3 day programme but have been working on planning this scheme alongside staff over 3 months!
We would not be able to deliver such a programme without the support of local Corporate ALMAC who are have supported us the last 4 years to deliver this programme.
Oasis Staff Team would like to thank all the children for coming along and taking part in "Under The Sea" Easter PGA 2022 !

Over the 3 days some of the Oasis team (especially Steve) made the meals and great support from partners Lisa-Family Support Hub, Frances - ABC Council and Michael- SHSCT for helping prepare, server and clean up the kitchen! We trialled a salad bar this year and it was a massive hit!
We also had some delicious milk and milkshakes straight from Ballydown Milk - 60l of milk very generously donated by the Martin family! You should go out and visit their Milk Station in Banbridge as they now have homemade Greek Style Yoghurts available too!
Gets Active is funded by ALMAC - McClay Foundation, Brakes and PHA
Partnership between CiNI, CYPSP, ABC Council, NIACRO - FSH, SHSCT, PHA
Massive shout out to all the volunteers and Oasis Team for their incredible support to make this scheme possible! And thanks to the wider CIP team for your patience in having over 80 children and young people take over CIP centre!

Jurassic Park Gets Active was jam packed with activities run by our very own ORBIT young leaders: Sebastian’s Lab, Come Dino With Me, Dinomation & Earth Investigators as well as inclusive sports from ABC Council, drumming workshops with Mark, smoothie making AND a trip to W5!
We couldn’t have done all these activities without our breakfasts prepared by our leaders and our incredible lunches prepared by Flat Dog's ! We also had some yummy milkshakes kindly donated by Ballydown Milk
We are so proud of all our participants for getting involved in all the activities, trying new things and for showing kindness to lots of new participants!
In addition to the fun activities, children will also have the chance to learn about the importance of volunteering and how they can make a difference in the lives of others. The event is organized and run by young people, who will serve as mentors and role models for the kids participating. They will share their own experiences and skills, and inspire the children to explore new interests and passions.
Overall, "Summer Gets Active" is a unique opportunity for kids to spend their summer making new friends, learning new skills, and giving back to their community. It's a great way for kids to stay active, have fun and make a positive impact on the world around them.
